Holmegaard launched Monica Ritterband’s raindrop universe as a candleholder and vase series. Holmegaard wrote the following in its press release: »The artist Monica Ritterband is known for designing with soft, playful forms. With their organic raindrop shape the elegant candle-holders Sign are a tribute to the life-giving water.« However, Monica Ritterband had previously designed another concept for Holmegaard. With the tealight candle holders »City Light« Monica Ritterband created a concept with which you can create your own path of candlelight by using small glass cobblestones...

»I have always been fascinated by cobblestones – and when I walk around old city centres I often have my nose to the ground so that I can read the ravages of time and history in the old cobbles. The century’s old hand-cut cobbles are most beautiful and I have always found it exciting to turn an old, heavy cobble steeped in history into a small cobblestone tealight candle holder of the finest glass,« says Monica Ritterband, who has also
designed a furniture textile
inspired by cobblestones.
