Monica ritterband

Monica Ritterband is known for her note figurs in porcelain, but also for her rusted iron sculptures, modelled female bodies and highly-polished steel figures. »All Alone« is the name of Monica Ritterband’s bronze woman who sits under her net, her grating, her defence. »The sculpture expresses the melancholia, the nakedness, the loneliness that even the most happy and vital of women experiences from time to time. A loneliness that for me is so important to experience because without
it I do not think I can keep my energy alive. It is when I am alone that things fall into place for me.«

The Ministry of Integration asked Monica Ritterband to create an award sculpture symbolizing the concept of integration. » First I had to consider what the word “integration” actually means to me. I reached the conclusion that integration is basically a question of face-to-face dialogue, openness and warmth. I then had to transform the words to a visible form.«
The result was the award sculpture »Growth« which Crown Princess Mary presents annually to those who have contributed the most to promoting integration.
